Is Mt Crosby Road at Colleges Crossing a rural road?

In 2008 I wrote to the Main Roads Minister in relation to my concerns about Colleges Crossing and his reply was that it was designed for a ”low volume rural road”.
Given that the road even at that time was carrying 9,000 cars a day it is hard to see that this could be considered a “low volume rural road”.
I have written again to the Minister to ask what plans the Department of Main Roads has to improve Colleges Crossing and better deal with the increasingly frequent times that there are large water flows in the Brisbane River.
Incidentally I previously raised the issue of pedestrian and cycle crossing and in 2008 the then Minister indicated he would be seeking the inclusion of a separate pedestrian/cycle crossing near the southern regional water pipeline in the State Government’s long term transport infrastructure plan. I am currently following up to see whether the Minister did in fact have that placed on the plan but clearly with growth in the area and traffic as it is across Colleges Crossing, it is imperative that we have a separate and safe pedestrian and cycle crossing for the use of local residents and in particular those going to Mt Crosby State School.
I will post an update for you on these issues as soon as they are available.
