State Labor government dismisses concerns over Colleges Crossing

The State Labor government has written in response to concerns by local residents about regular closures of Colleges Crossing due to flood waters and dismissed those concerns saying,
“I do not believe that the average taxpayer will entertain the idea for the relatively short amount of inconvenience this creates”.
Traffic volumes on Colleges Crossing are steadily growing and are now around 10,000 cars per day.
It has been described by previous State Ministers as being constructed to the standard of a “quiet rural road”. It is clearly now a busy metropolitan road and its general condition as well as its frequent closures due to flood waters obviously need to be reconsidered.
It is disappointing that the government has so lightly dismissed the concerns of local residents, particularly those from Allawah Road Chuwar who have been almost completely cut off during recent releases of water from Wivehoe Dam.
