Work in Moggill far from complete

Weekend media reports that I considered retirement from the seat of Moggill are absolutely baseless.

Along with many supporters we have worked hard on behalf of the local community throughout the recent Brisbane floods and intend to continue to work hard for the local community through the flood recovery.

The major item of unfinished business is the decades of appalling long neglect of local public transport and arterial roads.

Whilst the rest of Brisbane has received busways, bus lanes and major new direct arterial roads, our area has been completely ignored to the point where our transportation system is the major negative for our lifestyle and is, for all intents and purposes unworkable at certain times of the day.

I set out when I was first elected as the Member for Moggill to fight the very tough battle to get this neglect redressed and I intend to see that through. In my Shadow Portfolio of Education and Training I have been disappointed to see the outcomes of education in Queensland bouncing along the bottom of the outcomes in Australia.  After working for two years in this portfolio I have no doubt that Queensland education could be the best in Australia and among the best in the world.  There is no reason why it should not.  I also look forward to continuing my work in the Education and Training portfolio.
