Mystery works at Karana Downs Golf Club

A number of local residents have rung in saying that the carpark has been closed and some building activity is evident at the Karana Downs Golf Club.  

What I am informed of is that no approval has been given to proceed with the proposed residential development on the site. My understanding is that the Brisbane City Council has refused the development application that was submitted, and the developer has taken the matter to the Planning and Environment Court. 

I have been advised that there is a new owner and a decision has been made to close the Karana Downs Golf Club. 

I am concerned that this may result in the area falling into disrepair. I am also obviously disappointed at the loss of this local sporting facility.  However, as a private sports club it is the owner's right to make a decision to close the club.

 

I will update as further information comes to hand.
