Government cuts local dental service to “part time”

In a major cutback to local public dental services the State Government has reduced our dental clinic at Indooroopilly from a full time 5 day a week clinic to 3 days a week only.
Local residents requiring public dentistry who call outside the limited hours for which it is now open are referred to a call centre who advise them they could use the Brisbane Dental Hospital. Less urgent cases are dealt with through another office in Pine Rivers. It seems that once again the local area has been on the receiving end of State Government cuts. Whilst not every resident in the local area has the need to utilise public dentistry, many people do and cutting back on a fulltime service that has existed for years obviously makes life for many of those people much more difficult.
Once again, as always, it seems that when cuts are made they are to the coalfront of service delivery rather than other areas.
I have expressed back to the Government that we would consider such a cutback to local health services unacceptable.
