I have been informed that the Government will now not meet their deadline for announcing their response to the Kenmore Bypass Study.
This is very disappointing for local residents many of whom live with considerable uncertainty until the Government is able to clarify their intention.
The delay and its impact on local residents have reached an unacceptable length. Advice is that the department have delayed advice to the Minister whilst the “Departmental Investment Committee” assess financial viability relative to other competing projects. It is anticipated that advice will be given to the Minister by the end of July and sometime after that we will get the Government’s response.
This delay is not acceptable to residents who have already put up with a number of years of discussion of this project that has made homes difficult if not impossible to sell as well as leaving all local residents sitting on gridlocked Moggill Road with no plan to fix it.
Interestingly the majority of resumptions that would be required for the Kenmore Bypass have already occurred on hardship grounds. Some 28-30 properties have been acquired voluntarily from local residents who would otherwise have been unable to sell their property.
