Guardrail “inconvenience” aimed to improve safety

Main Roads has decided that as part of replacing the decaying safety rail along Moggill Road inbound from the Kenmore roundabout that they will extend the safety rail approximately another 100 metres on the city side.
I fought to get the broken guardrail fixed to ensure that motorists and other residents are properly safeguarded.
The Government’s thinking in extending the guardrail appears to be primarily to discourage pedestrians crossing at the adjacent bus stop.
This will no doubt inconvenience some local residents who use the bus. t may be that there is a legitimate safety concern in relation to pedestrians crossing Moggill Road at this point
It is however another example of the inadequacy of this road to carry the volumes of through traffic that are now using it.
