What happened to safety upgrade of Witton Rd/Moggill Rd intersection?

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Over a year after the State Government agreed to a major safety upgrade of Moggill Road at Chapel Hill and in particular to provide a right-hand turn only lane into Witton Road we have still seen no action to make this section more workable and safer.

Below is an excerpt from yet another complaint in relation to this intersection that I have forwarded to the Main Roads Department:-

“As I am typing this email to you, another local is being taken away with a neck brace on, in a stretcher.  I have worked on the corner of Moggill and Witton Rds for 5 years and I would guess that we have about one crash per month at this intersection.  They are very rarely minor crashes.  Most times they require fire, police and paramedics along with two tow trucks to remove the wreckages.  I’m sure you agree this is a major claim on our already tight resources.”

As readers will be aware the safety of local residents along Moggill Road has been one of my passions over recent years.  I must say it is very disappointing that even when agreement is reached that a particular safety upgrade is necessary getting that actually put in place is often a whole different story.

I have again referred these latest complaints to the Main Roads Department.
