No action on dangerous Moggill Road turn
Friday, 06 November 2009 13:05
Despite promises some years ago the Main Roads Department has taken no action to address the unsafe right turn from Moggill Road into Witton Road at Chapel Hill.
This is a commonly used right hand turn for traffic heading in the direction of Indooroopilly but despite some 44,000 cars a day using this stretch of Moggill Road there is no right hand turn lane.
Every hour numerous motorists get caught out when cars in front stop to do a right hand turn. Who can blame them given that any other comparable road and even much lesser roads would have a safe right hand turn zone for turning cars to move out of the flow of through traffic.
Locals continue to report numerous accidents and near misses at this location particularly as traffic that has been caught behind turning traffic tries to move into the left lane.
It is hard to understand how this could be allowed to continue.
I have once again taken the matter up with the Department of Main Roads and will keep residents informed.
