Bellbowrie Pedestrian Crossing?
Tuesday, 23 June 2009 15:21
Following a strident campaign by myself and local residents to have a pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the Bellbowrie bus stop the Main Roads Department have approved a business case for the installation of traffic lights at the Moggill Road and Birkin Road intersection to improve motorist and pedestrian safety. I am absolutely delighted but we should not get too excited because now the business case has to be submitted for funding through the Safer Roads Sooner Committee.
A pedestrian crossing in this vicinity is desperately needed and I have spent the past five years calling for better safety through this area. There have been at least six significant accidents at the Moggill Road/Birkin Road intersection for vehicles and it does appear to be a no-brainer that would improve safety substantially.

I have written to the Safer Roads Sooner Committee urging that they adopt the recommendation.
